to attend or host an in-home meeting with your legislator concerning
nuclear issues in Utah.

Did you know that the American Black Bear
will hibernate for 100 days straight during winter? Winter is now
upon us here in Utah , but we can’t afford to go into hibernation!
With the Legislative Session starting in 35 days, now is a critical
time to meet with your legislators to ensure they represent you.
The best way to meet with legislators before the
Legislative session begins is to host or attend an in-home meeting.
At an in-home meeting, you invite your legislator to meet with your
neighbors and friends in your home. At each meeting, a member of
HEAL Utah will give a brief presentation on upcoming legislation.
Then you (and your neighbors) will have the opportunity to directly
express your beliefs and concerns to your legislator.
Over 2,000 lobbyists represent special interests
on Capitol Hill. You can help counter the influence of highly paid
lobbyists working in the back-halls of the State Legislature by
building a relationship with your legislators and educating them
on nuclear and toxic waste issues facing our state.
Please e-mail Jessica@healutah.org
or call 801-355-5055 if you are interested in hosting or attending
an in-home meeting with your legislator. We know this is a busy
season, but we hope that you have some time between now and mid-January
to host or attend a meeting.
Will the legislature eliminate EnergySolutions’
Perpetual Care fund and pass the burden of long-term care onto the
shoulders of future Utah taxpayers, push for the development of
a nuclear power plant on Lake Powell , and allow renewable energy
tax credits to expire? Or will we actually close the door to our
state being the nation's dumping ground and promote safe, sustainable
energy alternatives? You can let those who represent you know your
answers.
