5th Annual Nuclear Fools Day Parade

Las Vegas, April 1st 2000

The parade went really really well. There were over a hundred people who showed up at the City Hall. We had a mountain which we used for the backdrop, and then proceeded to wheel down Las Vegas Blvd.

There was a two headed snake, who came out of the mountain once the radioactive waste went into it. It was absolutely incredible to see the things that we saw. John hadder played DOE and Benjamin was a politician who received "big money" (and boy was it ever big!!! at least 3 feet across) to give the workers some chump change, and then give the people a huge screw.

Homer Simpson and his three eyed fish spilled green oozing nuclear waste all over as a nuclear waste truck weaved it's way into the mountain. Then, a two headed snake appeared from the shaking and quaking mountain.

It was incredible as the beings of death and life followed it around, and the people began to die. The children outlined their forms in chalk, and we heard from death/life about the dangers of radiation and that we have a choice as to what we are going to do.

The "nuclear fool" ended it all asking if anyone thought big money could save them now. There was a marching band, the cask... it was awesome... The loca news ran Corbin, speaking in front of the yucca mountain we made.... we wound up with at least 130 people at the federal building (we picked some more up on Fremont St).

The cops were great the entire way. it was awesome... really friendly guy, helping everyone out. working together to build a safer tomorrow stuff... at the Federal Building Corbin, Katherine Blossom as a mother and grandmother, and Gracie spoke eloquently.

Dixie and julia and I also spoke, and it was really awesome. Corbin did our closing circle, and there were punks holding hands with elders holding hands with union members holding hands with hippies holding hands with children holding dogs... (hehe) the circle brought tears to my eyes, it was absolutely beautiful.
