Action for Nuclear Abolition, working for complete nuclear disarmament and closure of the Nevada Test Site. Along with our ongoing work in building alliances with affected communities, organizing and supporting conferences, workshops, speeches, rallies, and direct actions, we also mobilize internationally to bring activists to Shut Down the Nevada Test Site and Stop Yucca Mountain.

ACLU protests eight anti-nuclear arrests
Tuesday Morning had the Green Party Nevada Governor Candidate Charles Laws was arrested at the front gates, along with two others.
The 4 PM Monday afternoon rally involved amazing street theater and puppets at the front gates of the test site, during which 10 people were arrested cited and released.
This morning (Oct. 14th) at the Daily Morning vigil at the front gates of the Nevada Test Site(NTS), the NNSA officials had traffic backed up checking credentials, Greg Getty from Nuremberg Actions was walking back and forth talking to the drivers of the vehicles was stuck by a truck. He was taken into custody, was not given any medical treatment cited and released. The driver of the hit and run was allowed entry into the Nevada Test Site, without being stopped. Fortunately the incident was recorded on video and the legal team and ACLU are handling the situation.

as the below Spiritual action was taking place seven activists were on their
way to the North Portal of Yucca Mountain for a Banner Hanging. Just before
they arrived at the portal, five activists were arrested cited and released,
while two got away undetected. ![]()

In the cover of
darkness this morning (Oct 14th) approximately 175 Natives and activists
reclaimed a portion of the Nevada Test Site. Corbin Harney, Western Shoshone

Sunday morning two separate groups of 11 activists each (about a third of the activists had taken part in the 800 mile Family Spirit Walk from Las Alamos New Mexico), entered the NTS. One group was going to the Mercury Chapel to pray for peace while they other was preparing to protest at the Los Alamos Nuclear facility Building. Unfortunately the were apprehended prior to achieving their objectives. The Sheriffs office transported them to Beatty, NV sixty miles away. They were held in county jail and their ACLU lawyer was denied the ability for over four hour in till the Executive Director of the ACLU threatened to call in the media. The lawyer was give access to his client just prior to their hearing. Fourteen activists were cited and released in a process that took over 12 hours. The remaining eight are doing jail solidarity, and remaining silence.
| Saturday Evening as part of the Indigenous Day recognition, more than 200 people walked to the NTS front gates. Natives,families with children and activists were planning on crossing into the Test Site. The Nye county sheriffs, illegally threatened to take all the children away from their parents to juvenile lock up 35 miles away. Their parents and legal guardian were present and had given the children permission to demonstrate against the nuclear weapons testing and the Yucca Mountain High Level Waste Dump. Some of the children were also part of the Family Spirit Walk. |
Twenty three folks choose to get arrested, But, those not cooperation 100% with the Wackenhuts were either subjected to pain compliance and choke holds. Some of the women were dragged over the desert terrain to the holding pens screaming in pain. A World War II veteran ( NO More Norb) was handled extremely rough. The ACLU is also following up on their treatment.
